Lahore has been named a "Creative City" by UNESCO

Lahore has been named a "Creative City" by UNESCOLONDON: The UNESCO Creative Cities Network has added Lahore to its list, less than a year after the head of the UNESCO City of Literature Heidelberg highlighted Lahore’s suitability for the program at the Lahore Literary Festival.

In the name of literature, glory can be an important honor for Lahore. The current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government has made great strides in encouraging tourism to the country and this would help internationalize the city’s cultural importance further and attract more literary figures seeking like-minded individuals to exchange ideas with.

For seven consecutive years in Lahore, the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) has encouraged a group of book lovers to find themselves closer to writers and poets for intellectual stimulation and humanity.

understanding of the world especially in an age where authoritative journalism is under threat and information becomes increasingly difficult to sift from the phenomenon of fake news,” founder and CEO Razi Ahmed praised the move by UNESCO.

LLF, a literary and social thinker in the slums, has revived the city's past as well as modern tradition and says the city has the power of human perception of co-operation written within the Youth Intelligence.

The LDF has continued the tradition that since its inception, the country has been at the forefront of Pakistan's literary activities, proud of the literary light of the characters of Saadat Hassan Manto, Bipsi Sadhu and Habib Al-Alib.

Used to preserve the sound of your writing. People who would otherwise be ignored. It also offers major public literature programs at local universities, including University College College and Forman Christian College.

During a meeting of the LLF earlier this year, Dr. Andrea Adeel, Head of Literature, UNESCO, Heidelberg, said:

“He said that various users of the program have already attended the Lahore Literary Festival and Pointed out that the city has become famous in some circles due to its cultural influence.

Dr. Adele discusses pair exchanges, authors' passions, ideas and shared information with networks involved in the literary trade in most countries. UNESCO also provides financial support, cost savings and which it cannot afford.

Representatives of member cities meet twice a year and maintain regular contact to ensure that they support each other's literary initiatives.

In a statement, this year 66 cities have been named UNESCO Creative Cities, covering a wide range of areas such as music, design, literature, cooking and handicrafts, and folk art. Add.

Angouleme, Beirut, Exeter, Kuhmo, Leeuwarden, Nanjing, Odessa, Slemani, Wonju, and Wrocław have also been designated Cities of Literature alongside Lahore, often referred to as the cultural capital of Pakistan.

"All over the world, these cities, each in its own way, are making culture a pillar of their strategy, not a pair," said UNESCO's Azul"It simply came to our notice then."

The UNESCO Network of Creative Cities includes 246 cities around the world. According to UNESCO, Network Cities work together for a common mission:

to build a creative economy based on creativity and their urban development plans to ensure that the city is safe, in line with the 2030 UN agenda. Be flexible, comprehensive. And make it sustainable. Sustainable development.
