Eid-ul-Fitr 2020 is being celebrated in Pakistan on Sunday
KARACHI - The Central Road Crescent Committee has announced that the country will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday after Shobal Chandra's appearance in Pakistan.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman chaired a meeting in Karachi, while zonal committee meetings were held at their respective provincial headquarters.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry Audi Dhori had said on Saturday that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Sunday like other Muslim countries.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the Minister of State confirmed the birth of Shobal Chand on Friday night and said that it could be bright today (Saturday).
Tomorrow, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, and other Muslim countries will celebrate Eid, while Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan on Sunday according to the schedule set by the Ministry of Science.
The moon will be visible in Singol, Badin and Thatta and the residents of lower cities will see the moon from 24 o'clock in the morning.
The Ministry of Science has sent all the recommendations to the Central Government and the final decision on Eid-ul-Fitr will be taken by the Prime Minister's Office.
A meeting of the Ruwit Hilal Committee will be held on May 23 (today) and a decision will be taken regarding the appearance of Shobal Chandra.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Chairman, Moon Visitors Association, will preside over the B-Moon Thackeray to be held in Karachi today.
Earlier, the Ministry of Religious Affairs had asked the Meteorological Department not to predict the moon. The Ministry is of the view that this right is reserved only for the Ruwit Hilal Committee.
Pakistan's Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier said that on the evening of Ramadan, May 23, there was a slight possibility of seeing the new moon of Shawwal 1441 AH.
