KARACHI: A local court on Monday charged a woman with a trespassing cat and not stopping to help the animal.

The case was referred to a complainant named Faiq Ali Jagirani, who mentioned it in the area. Animal rights are protected and the case will continue, so the accused has been found guilty of the crime.

A woman named Tehina went to the cat and asked him, according to Faiq Ali Jagirani, take the injured animal to the hospital., she didn’t comply and sped away in her car.

In her defense, the woman said she turned the car around and did not see the animal, which accidentally fell under the car's tires.

In today's hearing, Tehmina told the court that the dead cat was not domestic and would face trial. She appealed to the court to stop her imminent arrest.

The trial court acquitted the woman of lack of evidence and asked her to submit a bail bond of Rs 30,000.

Darakhshan police conducted an investigation in February under section 429 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with animal rights.
